About Us

Meleah Gabhart, Artist

My work pursuedes viewers to find the beauty in raw common wood.  Often, the wood I use is from broken furniture, or discarded leftovers from furniture makers.  In fact, I like the wood that is mostly rejected by traditional woodworkers.  Those bent boards where the grain twists and swirls delights me, and becomes focal points within the sculpture.

Wood has a willingness to be transformed, making it the perfect medium for carving into movement and life - in a tapestry of wood.

For me, living with beautiful objects that pay tribute to the natural world reminds me to slow down and connect with nature.  My art reminds people that we are all transformable - that broken is an opportunity to be something

even more complete.
